Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
This book is designed for the approximately 3,250,000 consumers who are refused credit each year because of inaccurate, incomplete or out-of-date information in their credit files; the nearly 5,500,000 consumers who have filed bankruptcy in the past five years; and those who have been damaged by money problems.

This new edition addresses one of the leading credit concerns in the last 24 months: identity theft. Its prevention is a paramount concern, not only for consumers, but for their creditors as well. Resources and preventative information are given in detail.

A complete glossary and thorough index, as well as appendices of easy-to-use, blank, tear-out forms and sample letters completes this credit repair kit. All blank forms and letters will be included on the new CD-ROM.

2 out of 5 stars Very little info on disputing...   December 16, 2008
I'm now paging through the 10th book I borrowed from the library and I am once again relieved that I did not actually purchase ALL OF THESE BOOKS which basically ALL SAY THE SAME THING.

I am seeking a comprehensive, detailed and serious guide to changing/repairing my credit report. I'm trying to learn how to construct effective disputes to illegitimate information on my credit report, and some tips on cajoling companies into removing legitimate (negative) information on my credit report.

I'm not looking to understand the different types of school loans, to neatly plan or organize my budget, or to prioritize my debts. If you are, maybe this book is for you. But the whopping 9 pages on disputes left me frustrated yet again.

[STANDARD DISCLAIMER]
if you're reading this review, you are hereby obligated to write your own. if not on this product than on another. c'mon. you know you want to. and if you don't, you should feel obligated. every time i buy anything from coffee mugs to clothing steamers, i find myself perusing amazon to see what everyone else said about it. this is an invaluable FREE resource unlike some other websites (ahem, consumerreportsucks, ahem excuse me!) which let you use it for, like, 3 days and then start charging your credit card on a monthly basis which effectively bleeds dry anyone who's ever just wanted to look up the damn list of good vaccum cleaners. phew.

moral of story = do your civic duty: write a review!

1 out of 5 stars Not even basic enough but they try to sell you service   October 29, 2008
It is a CD with very limited explnation as what to do. it even does not have a letter for Experian ineasted it has a letter with a phone number and when I called it guess what it is a service they try to sell you. so it is more of a company advertisement rather than professional help!

5 out of 5 stars Great Book and DVD   October 3, 2008
I had some errors on my credit report and I had a collection agency harrassing me for a debt that had been paid. I read this book and sent the proper forms from the disc to the businesses involved and it solved most of my problems. You have. To read the book and you cannot remove accurate info from your credit files but this is a very complete kit that allows you to fix your credit yourself.

1 out of 5 stars You'd Get More Information From a Phone Book   February 13, 2008

This book is thick with pages and thin as plastic wrap with information. Sure, there is a CD with all those 'useful' forms and that doesn't make up for the fact that this book doesn't really cover ANYTHING to depth.

I picked up a copy because a chiropractor mis-billed my insurance, never bothered to contact me and then after two years sent me to a collection agency. I used the Dispute and Verification of Agency form included on the CD which is supposed to get some information on the debt as well as validation that the agency is legit.

What I received for my trouble was a ten day demand letter. This book does not tell you what to do next if its forms and processes go any way other than as they say it should. I paid off the collection agency to keep my credit clear; In essence I paid for someone else's mistake.

DO NOT BUY THIS STUPID BOOK. Take yourself and someone you like to Starbuck's or Peete's Coffee and talk about anything you like other than repairing your credit.

Just my opinion, I'd rather pay someone to do it if all the published resources are like this one. It is a complete waste of money and the time you'll spend reading it.

This book doesn't give enough information about how and what negative items to dispute on your credit report to raise your credit score.
